Bio:
Dr. Laszlo Karai is a dermatopathologist with over 13 years of experience working in high volume dermatopathological practices, such as Cockerell & Associates and DermDX Miami/Global Pathology, Sonic Health Care. He has a special interest in cutaneous lymphocytic proliferations and spent significant time working closely with Drs. Peter Isaacson, University College London, UK and Elaine Jaffe at the NCI. Dr. Karai and his colleagues described a new variant of lymphomatoid papulosis associated with 6p25.3 translocation which is part of the new WHO Classification. Besides skin lymphomas he enjoys to characterize soft tissue tumors, melanocytic lesions and have a special interest in challenging clinic-pathological correlations.

As a PhD student he devised a non-opioid pain treatment for the management of intractable pain. This method employing resiniferatoxin for “molecular neurosurgery” was patented by the NIH and purchased by Sorento Therapeutics, Inc.

He has a long history in teaching and he is currently the Director of the Dermatopathology Fellowship Program of the Larkin Community Hospital.

He is also an avid waterman, hydrofoiler and owner of Kite-Hydrofoil Miami, Inc. an online store for kite and hydrofoil specific gear.
